Material Flow Simulation

The future is designed today

This applies particularly in a complex, dynamic environment. You should meet this challenge with sophisticated and powerful tools. Material flow simulation provides for extensive test phases in which it is possible to verify the technical solution, capacity arrangements and control strategies. Whether accompanying planning, as part of virtual commissioning or for the purpose of optimising an existing system: material flow simulation allows problems and optimisation potential to be identified at an early stage.

In addition to material flow simulation services, we offer the development of decision support systems and training for the application of simulation software.

Material flow simulation

Our simulation models anticipate the future. The timely deployment of material flow simulations allows you to set the right course before knowledge from the reality of production is available. The processes of complete production systems can be digitally mapped and extensively tested prior to the implementation or adaptation of existing systems.

Material flow simulations are used in different planning phases: feasibility, concept planning and detailed planning. Material flow simulation also offers the option to selectively mask out disruptive influencing factors on existing production systems in order to systematically investigate individual factors - completely unthinkable in reality. Libraries with reusable components are available for frequently occurring applications, e.g. libraries that were developed via the VDA or libraries and simulation frameworks that we customise for the diverse applications of our customers.

    • Validated planning alternatives and robust statements about their impact on system performance
    • Ability to virtually test system and control adjustments
    • High level of security for investment decisions
    • Absolute planning quality - and hence acceleration of the production ramp-up
    • Securing competitive advantages through early and quick decision-making
    • Production and assembly systems
    • Logistics systems
    • Intralogistics
    • Transport systems (e.g. electric monorails, driverless transport systems, forklifts)
    • Baggage handling systems and cargo centres
    • Maintenance and repair processes
    • Dynamic view of the production system taking account of stochastic influences such as faults
    • Identification and quantification of existing optimisation potential
    • Precise basis for decision-making
    • Strategic planning for investments
    • Operational production order and capacity planning
    • Short-term manpower planning
    • Value stream design and value stream planning
    • Supply chain planning

Decision Support Systems

We offer individually developed decision support systems to support planning and decision-making processes and to improve the quality of decisions. Four factors are of fundamental importance here: the control and maintenance of planning data and the analysis and evaluation of results from various planning alternatives. This means that planners, those responsible at the technical level and management can make clear-cut decisions.

We develop web-based and desktop-based decision support systems. Business Intelligence (BI) tools are used to generate reports and evaluations. They make it possible to evaluate the results dynamically.

We support the widest variety of customers with our simulation portfolio.

Training

Our training courses are conducted by experienced project engineers; at your location or at one of our locations. In our training courses we impart the knowledge you need to create your own material flow simulations. In addition to operating the software, we show how to make best use of the material flow simulation software in the project environment.

  • The training is aimed at newcomers, career changers and those interested who want to get to know material flow simulation with Plant Simulation or Automod. Practical examples illustrate important functions of the simulation. The core component is our modular training model. The acquired knowledge is developed and combined in the form of a modular system. At the end of the training, each participant has an independently developed model that can serve as the basis for further exercises.

  • In the project team we actively accompany one of your projects: the project is jointly structured; your model design is supported and simulation experiments are defined and evaluated.

Project coaching is a highly effective way to deepen the simulation know-how for your specific requirements.
