metys The Industrial Metaverse Platform for Industry

Your systems are powerful. But do they talk to each other?

Industrial value creation is becoming more complex, connected and data-driven. At the same time, many companies operate fragmented system landscapes comprising CAD, PLM, ERP and other production systems. As a result, data, models and decisions often remain trapped in data silos. metys connects existing systems to create a shared data foundation for development, planning and production.

Platform overview

How metys connects data, systems and industrial processes

The digital environment

A shared digital environment for industrial value creation

The Industrial Metaverse creates a shared digital environment in which products, production processes and their data can be viewed across the entire factory lifecycle. Digital models and real processes are connected, making information usable across system boundaries.

The platform

metys connects CAD, PLM, ERP and production data

metys is EDAG's Industrial Metaverse platform for connecting existing systems and data sources. Information from CAD, PLM, ERP, simulation and production can be brought together on a shared data foundation. This helps reduce data silos and enables industrial projects to be planned, managed and optimized end to end.

The partner

Technology combined with real industrial processes

As an engineering partner with in-depth expertise in product development and production, EDAG combines digital technologies with real industrial processes. The consistent data foundation creates transparency while also providing the basis for Physical AI and Agentic AI. The first productively available entry point is the metys module for project management in the Industrial Metaverse.

Challenge

Fragmented systems slow industrial companies down

Many industrial companies work with powerful systems that are not sufficiently integrated with one another. Data, models and processes are distributed across different applications and departments. This creates data silos and prevents a consistent overall view across development, planning and production.

Systems such as CAD, PLM and ERP, as well as specialized solutions for simulation and production, each provide valuable information. Without consistent data integration, however, this information remains separated across individual systems and cannot be used in the right context.

The key challenge is therefore not the individual technologies themselves, but connecting systems, production data and processes consistently.

The consequences of fragmented data landscapes

  • Data is not fully available or accessible in the right context.
  • Decisions are based on distributed or incomplete information.
  • Dependencies and risks only become visible late in the project.
  • Changes must be coordinated manually across multiple systems and stakeholders.

The platform

Integration that works in practice

metys addresses exactly the point at which conventional system landscapes reach their limits. Instead of integrating data retrospectively, it creates a shared working environment in which development data, production data, simulations and AI analyses are connected from the outset.

Information from different areas is therefore available in the right context and can be used directly within the project. Relationships between product, process and planning become transparent, and decisions can be made on the basis of a consistent data foundation. Building on this, products and production processes can be planned, simulated and validated virtually before real investments are made.

This approach is based not only on technology, but also on engineering expertise. EDAG contributes decades of experience in product and production development and integrates technologies from leading partners such as NVIDIA, Siemens, SAP and Wandelbots into a functioning overall system. metys runs, among other things, on Deutsche Telekom's Industrial AI Cloud. This enables data and operational sovereignty in line with European standards and facilitates access to state-of-the-art hardware for industrial SMEs.

metys is being expanded step by step across the entire factory lifecycle. The current entry point is the project management use case. Further application areas will be added successively.

Not isolated point solutions, but end-to-end integration along real industrial processes.

Measurable impact

What this means in practice

Initial projects demonstrate measurable effects:

Lower
investment risk Through virtual planning and validation before real investments are made.
30%
faster ramp-up Less coordination effort, clearer processes and earlier decisions.
Scalable
across multiple locations One consistent platform for distributed teams and production sites.
Data-driven
across the entire factory lifecycle A consistent information foundation instead of fragmented data.
First use case

Project management as the first use case

The metys project management module is available and can be used productively within 30 days. It is an ideal entry point because coordination effort is particularly high in industrial projects. Many stakeholders, systems and data sources need to be brought together.

metys connects:

  • Project status and milestones
  • 3D models and geometry data
  • Simulation data
  • Documents and tasks

These include:

  • CAD systems such as CATIA V5, Siemens NX, MicroStation and Autodesk data
  • Simulation solutions such as Process Simulate and Plant Simulation
  • Project and collaboration systems such as C-Place and COMAN

Depending on the system, integration is achieved either through direct interfaces or by incorporating existing data. The level of integration ranges from fully connected applications to their use as data sources.

This makes project status, dependencies and risks visible in real time. AI supports status queries and identifies patterns in project data.

The result

Greater transparency and better project decisions

  • Complete transparency across project progress
  • Faster and better-informed decisions
  • Less coordination effort
  • Higher planning quality

metys is being expanded step by step across the entire factory lifecycle. Further application areas will be added successively.
