Efficient use of second-life batteries from electric vehicles

EDAG is carrying out projects that have received funding from various Programs for energy efficiency actions in the industrial sector, co-financed by the European Union and coordinated by IDAE.

Project:
SELAB – Efficient use of second-life batteries from electric vehicles

Project funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, due to its alignment with the category of projects related to new business models in the energy transition, by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, in accordance with Article 34.2 of Regulation (EU) 2021/241 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 12 February 2021.

This project with a total investment of 531,365 € has received a support of 212,546€ for the development of “Efficient Use of Second-Life Batteries from Electric Vehicles (2024–2026).”

EDAG ENGINEERING Spain is developing an innovative solution that enables the reuse of electric vehicle batteries, giving them a second useful life.

SELAB’s objectives are:

  • The integration of second-life batteries for renewable energy storage and facilitate their injection into the electrical grid.
The development and integration of a cloud-connected energy management algorithm (EMS) that adapts in real time to external factors such as energy prices or weather forecasts.
Implementing new procedures for analysing battery health status through tests carried out by Eurecat, in order to optimize their use and extend their lifespan.
