A new era of aviation: EDAG Group supports AIR in the development and production of the eVTOL AIR ONE

Fulda, June 03, 2025 – The EDAG Group, an independent engineering service provider, has signed a letter of intent with aviation OEM AIR, an eVTOL manufacturer (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft), for the development and manufacturing of mass-production-ready aircraft variants. The partnership marks a significant step toward scalable air mobility for both companies.

The EDAG Group upholds the highest standards of quality, reliability, and innovation in its development and production processes. It is responsible for developing and manufacturing the main structure for the AIR ONE model, among other things. As a reliable partner with decades of experience in automotive structural development, the EDAG Group brings comprehensive expertise in design, lightweight construction, and production to the project.

The "AIR ONE" will be available in different variants. A piloted model for private use will be available by 2026, while the uncrewed cargo production version will be delivered to the launch customers this year.

It will also be possible to choose between different drive types for the model variants: The purely electric AIR ONE offers a one hour flight time and can be loaded with up to 250 kg. A range extension of up to 450 km could be possible with a hybrid variant for the same load. The first uncrewed flights were successfully completed as early as 2022.

The main structure and other assemblies newly developed by the EDAG Group for the AIR ONE aircraft feature impressive lightweight construction, innovative functions such as folding wings and engine arms, and a cabin space that can be used flexibly for goods or passengers. Since the first structures have already been delivered, AIR is currently assembling and testing the aircraft.

Engineering excellence for the air mobility of the future

“The collaboration with AIR emphasizes our commitment to delivering high-performance, modular solutions for forward-looking mobility concepts, even beyond the road,” said Harald Keller, CEO of the EDAG Group. “The project is a good example of engineering for practical applications that combines precision, flexibility, and efficiency.”

With a load capacity of almost 2000 liters and a robust, lightweight aluminum construction, the AIR ONE meets the highest requirements for private and commercial use – from comfortable individual flights to logistics solutions with fast cargo handling.

"EDAG's expertise in the design and production of complex structural assemblies allows us to take a major step toward making advanced air mobility available to the masses. This partnership paves the way for streamlined, scalable production of the AIR ONE and enables faster delivery to meet growing consumer and business demand for accessible air transportation,” said Rani Plaut, CEO and co-founder of AIR.

The two companies have been working together since 2023. Based on the successful project work to date, both parties would like to move closer together in order to take the next step toward series development and production.
